Meet Rock (Makarini)

Back in ’99 Raglan Surf School kicked off it’s journey as a bunch of mates in a beat-up old ambulance. 

Fast forward to today, there has been some serious growth and evolution, but through it all has been surf instructor, and now owner Rock. 

Rock has been in the business of surf instruction from the very beginning and is one of New Zealand’s longest-standing surf instructors.  Don’t worry though – he’s not as ancient as the hills (his words, not ours). 

However, he has passed on that experience, as well as a tried and tested technique that he has perfected over the years to his enthusiastic team of instructors. When you surf with Raglan Surf School, you’re soaking in the maximum surf experience – Rock approved. 

One of the biggest compliments is when students who were taught in the early days, bring their own little groms back to learn with Raglan Surf School.
